Make sure you think it over carefully when you think about getting a yorkie. Your little yorkie will be with you for many years and is a big responsibility. Here are some things to consider before you decide to purchase or adopt a yorkie:

• Will your landlord allow you to have a yorkie?

• Do you have enough time to spend on your yorkie? A yorkie will require plenty of walks and brushing.

• Can you bear the costs of keeping a healthy pet? Yorkies will need regular vet checkups, nutrient rich food, preventative flea medications and more.

• Do you have someone who will take care of your yorkie if you need to go on a trip or decide to take a vacation and it can't go with you?

• Is anyone in your family allergic to dogs?
